It is written that “”Charm is deceptive and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” This is why we emphasize that our recruits to not be deceived by who’s cute but seek godly attributes.
Although this meme is humorous, it should be taken seriously. A 2010 study revealed that 20 percent or 900,000 of the 4 million children identified as having ADHD were misdiagnosed. So every morning before my son goes to school, I pray that the Most High will give his teachers the patience needed to teach this generation. I also ask Him to give the teachers emotional reprieve from the anxiety/stressors in their lives so that they can teach with patience. Also I pray that when they return to their day-to-day lives, that whatever is cause stress in their lives would be decreased or eliminated. #SavingBoys"It's easier to build strong children, than repair broken men." - Frederick Douglass #SavingBoysIf a boy doesn't get affirmation from his day or a man; when he becomes a man, he will seek to get it from wherever he can. #Gangs #PromiscuousLifestyle #Drugs #Etc #SavingBoysAlong my heart wrenching journey to develop the Cave of Adullam, the Lord provided willing vessels to speak His words to me to confirm what He already placed in my spirit. I never forgot a conversation I had with a martial art friend of mine in 2012. Khorey had no idea that I was recording him, but I’m glad I did. For decades I sought from others what only I could find in myself. One day Khorey was fed up with my wavering and boldly cut to the chase. He said, “Jason, you’ve trained with the best for decades and you're still not fulfilled. Since you are gifted as a teacher, you quickly discover each arts deficiencies. This is not to say each art you’ve learned is not effective but that your end goal is not to create martial artists. What God created you to do will have a greater impact than teaching a martial art or arts. When you grasp that, you'll find fulfillment and you’ll have more testimonies than titles! You don’t need another belt rank, you need to find four walls and start teaching. When you find those four walls, you’ll not only be fulfilled but there, you will find the instructor you’ve been searching for was always in you.” This morning as I meditated on this, I pondered why we often wait for approval from man before we do God’s will? Why we seek another degree, before we serve our community? Why we desire more money, before we commit to marriage and family? We all lack faith at times, but we should never allow that lack of faith to hinder God’s will from going forth through us. In the words of my friend Shawn Dove, “Stop stalling on your calling and dive in!” So be encouraged my brothers and sisters. God will not call you to do something that’s already been done, because it would not require faith. He's got you! Shalom"As a man thinks within himself, so is he." - Proverbs 23:7 #SavingBoysDon't Believe the Hype: This is two of my student's father Ronald Nunn. My friend Duan'te and father of two of my other students pointed Ron out while we were talking. I couldn't pass up this photo op because this brother holds it down AND I strive to be the media we do not see! Today he worked 10 hours in Toledo Ohio, drove immediately after work to Redford to pick up his sons and their 4 siblings, then dropped on of his daughters off to dance class, then drove his son to Detroit to train in The Cave of Adullam (121 miles)! I salute you my brother Ron! Shalom! #blackmenlove #marriedblackmen #faithfulblackmen #Godfearingblackmen #bmecommunity #CBMAMy Christian life has truly been a journey through the valley of the shadow of death, as I feared no evil to save the lives of black boys and young men. Oh how seemingly bliss it would be to find a “Cave” like David, i.e. get a jobby job, read my bible for pleasure instead of strategy, and live life free from the burdens and the compassion fatigue associated with the frontline ministry of the Cave of Adullam Transformational Academy. #stillfightingthegoodfight In 2010, Michigan State University Department of Psychology conducted a study that revealed about 20% (900,000) of the 4.5 million children currently identified as having ADHD were likely misdiagnosed. How many of you remember ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder)? Since no drug can make anyone pay attention, ADD was redefined in 1994 in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. The most commonly prescribed drug for ADHD symptoms is called Ritalin. It is the chemical equivalent of the illegal drug "Speed"; an amine with a stimulating effect on both the central and peripheral nervous systems. This same drug will put you in prison for 10 years, yet can legally be given to our children. #SavingBoys #WakeUpParents #FightForYourChild #ProveThemWrongAgain"Discipline without love is ineffectual. Our boys need to be healed, not scared." - Shärath Jason Wilson #SavingBoysFrustration was about to overtake me earlier today but I swiftly checked that emotion because some days, something's will not get done. This picture is of me and one of my beloved recruits talking outside at school this afternoon. Ironically his day started like mine but after I allowed him to work through the emotions that rendered his morning results, he quickly realized that my silence confirmed that he knew the answer to finishing his day better than it started. Instead of abruptly interjecting, I gave him the opportunity to talk through to the solution, and he did just that! So often as parents, our impatience with our children's digress, hinder our children's progress. You'll be surprised that you're listening will give them the best answer. #CriticalThinking #SavingBoys #EmotionalStabilityTrainingA University of Michigan and Vanderbilt University study revealed that in just about every country, men commit suicide more frequently than women, about four times as often. I truly believe this is a direct result of popular culture discouraging men from releasing Psychosomatic through natural ways like crying or expressing sadness. Eventually men will release these emotions, but they will manifest as startling aggression, outbursts of unresolved anger, irritability, substance abuse and risk-taking behaviors. As a society, if we do not embrace the truth that masculinity does not mean mechanically, we will continue to neglect the fact that men are human. Men who are emotionally incarcerated will never be free to truly love themselves, their wives or others in their lives. #SavingBoys #FreeingMen *Psychosomatic: a condition caused or aggravated by a mental factor such as internal conflict or stress. So often due to a lack of emotional stability and affirmation, many of our 'good' boys succumb to cultural pressure and conform to the image of a hypermasculine male in order to get the attention of a female. This is why it's imperative that we consistently remind our recruits to never compromise character for a relationship. Instead, we teach them to pray for their sisters who have been deceived but also stay away from their sisters who have been deceived (Pro 5:1-11). Focusing on seeking the Most High with their life and in His time, He will bless them with the 'right' wife. #SavingBoysI say Happy Father's Day to the men that never made excuses for fathering their children, and I pray the LORD uses this day to convict the men that continue to excuses for not fathering their children. I pray my brothers that one day you will realize children are a gift from the LORD, like arrows in the hands of a warrior (Psalm 127:4). Shalom #SavingBoysThis is my first week back in my recruit's schools insuring they are applying the principles we teach in the Cave of Adullam to their academics and peer interactions. I always chuckle inside at the expression on their faces when I make an unannounced visit to their school.. ha! Gotta keep them on their toes! #savingboysGood morning parents! Instead of losing hope, lose doubt! With the proper behavior modification plan, the brain can be changed. Be a teacher, not an enforcer. So be patient, not short-tempered. Be consistent, not erratic. And last but not least, try to catch them being good! Our children, especially black boys get acknowledged more for their negative behavior, than their positive ones. Dr. Robert Melillo says, "Whenever a child see that a certain behavior results in attention, be it positive or negative, the child will almost always repeat that same behavior with the goal of getting attention." #savingboys
